Why Passkey-X Sign

Simple for signers, provable for everyone.

Fields placed for you

Our own auto-place reads labels and signature lines, splits two-column signature blocks between signers and flags anything it isn't sure about.

Your signature, your way

Draw it, type it in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature: the background is removed automatically.

End-to-end encrypted

Documents are encrypted on your device. Outside signers' links carry a key that never reaches our servers.

Cryptographic signatures

Each signer signs the document's SHA-256 with ECDSA P-256. The original file is never changed, so its hash always checks out.

Verify code and Seal Chain

Every step, including the fields and what each signer filled in, is recorded in a tamper-evident hash chain anchored daily.

Teams and outside signers

Add Passkey-X Sign to send documents to colleagues and customers, in order or in any order, with reminders and a document register.

Questions

Free document signing FAQ

Is signing really free?

Yes. Every Passkey-X account can sign its own documents free, 10 a month. Sending documents to other people to sign needs the Passkey-X Sign add-on, which you can add to any plan: it covers your own account, your family or your whole organization (its vaults and subsidiaries).

Do I need an account?

You need a free Passkey-X account to sign your own documents, because the document and your signing key are kept in your encrypted vault. People you send a document to don't need an account: they sign through a private link.

Can I upload a picture of my signature?

Yes. Draw it with a mouse, finger or pen, type it in a handwriting style, or upload a photo or scan of your signature on paper. Passkey-X removes the paper background and trims it for you.

How does Passkey-X know where to sign?

Auto-place reads the document's text and lines and finds labels such as Signature, Date, Name and Title next to signature lines, including two signers side by side. Every field can then be dragged, resized and aligned with snapping guides.

Is an electronic signature legally binding?

In most countries electronic signatures are legally valid for most agreements (for example under the ESIGN Act and UETA in the US, eIDAS in the EU, and the IT Act in India). Some documents, such as wills or property deeds in some places, still need a handwritten or qualified signature, so check the rules for your document.

How can someone check my signature?

Each signed document gets a verify code. Anyone with the code and the original file or the signed copy can check it at passkey-x.com/verify. Signatures are ECDSA P-256 over the document's SHA-256 and every step is recorded in a tamper-evident hash chain.

Can Passkey-X read my documents?

No. Documents are encrypted on your device before upload. Outside signers get a link whose key never reaches our servers.
